Club Commander: William Crowe
The American Legion was organized nationally in 1919 following the close of World War I. The New London Post received their charter in 1920; the Auxiliary in 1925. The Post was named after Clifford Norris and William Spencer, two corporals who served in Co. D, 107th Supply Train, 32nd Division. Both were killed in action when their steamship, Tuscania, was torpedoed Feb. 5, 1918 off the coast of Ireland.
Local members first met above (Leo) Manske’s Tavern, now Bree’s Inn II. By the early 1930s the Post had acquired both land on the Wolf River and a building attached to the old Lincoln High School. The former training center was moved to the site and Legionnaires refurbished it, giving it the familiar log cabin look that lasted for the next six decades. This building eventually became The Waters Supper Club & Lounge when the Post and Auxiliary moved to its new clubhouse on E. North Water Street in 1998.
Both the Post and the Auxiliary have similar programs, working together in support of all veterans, current military, their families and youth. Helping with community needs and promotion of Americanism in the schools are also primary goals of both groups. Activities include school contests, poppy drives, an American Legion youth baseball team, pancake breakfast and brat fry fundraisers, work trips to Camp American Legion, Badger State at Ripon College (boys) and UW-Oshkosh (girls), participation in school and community patriotic ceremonies along with many other events.

B.A.B.E.S. has been a member of the New London Community since 2004. We provide short term child care services for parents (or single parent) experiencing stress, and a safe nurturing environment for children.
The goal of our service is to prevent circumstances that may negatively impact the development of children, their well being, and the stability of their family. Our services are provided on a no-cost, non-judgmental, first come, first served basis. We provide virtually “barrier-free” assistance with dignity, to families through community contributions. While the model for our program is child abuse prevention we do so much more in helping families cope, survive and thrive through their difficult and unique situations.
The main focus of B.A.B.E.S. has always been to intervene before instances of child abuse can occur. We feel if we can give these parents a “time out” to regroup, revive, and recharge, they will better be able to deal with life stressors that can contribute to instances of abuse. Child abuse is more than bruises and broken bones. While physical abuse might be the most visible sign, other types of abuse, such as emotional abuse or child neglect, also leave deep, long lasting scars. We are committed to breaking these cycles, and helping these families.

The Bear Creek Lions Club was chartered in 1973.
Monthly meetings are held the first Monday of each month beginning with a social gathering at 6 p.m., a pot – luck meal at 6:30 p.m., followed by our meeting at approximately 7:30 p.m. May through October meetings are held at the Bear Creek Lions Shelter located at the corner of Hwy. 45 and 76. November through April meetings are held at the Town of Bear Creek on Silver Creek Road.
The following are just some of the services / events that we offer:
• We collect used eye glasses and take them to the Lions Camp in Rosholt. They in turn, inspect them and send them to third world countries and recycle whatever they can use.
• We recently helped purchase a special camera that can be used to detect early vision problems in young children within the surrounding area.
• At Christmas time we distribute approximately 80 fruit baskets to people who are in need, either having lost a loved one, someone suffering with health issues, or anyone going through a difficult time. It is so rewarding to see the smile on their faces and to realize how something so little, can mean so much to someone in need.
• We also build wheel chair ramps in the surrounding community to people in need.
• During the summer months of May through August we hold Men’s Country League Softball on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. On Wednesday nights June through August we hold T- Ball at 5:30 p.m. and Little League to follow, at approximately 6:30 p.m. All games are held at the intersection of US Hwy. 45 and Hwy. 76 (directly north of the Bear Creek Citgo).
• Annual Brat and Burger Fry held the Thursday and Friday before Memorial Day. This is held at the Bear Creek Citgo Parking Lot. Takeout orders are available.

Blue Gorilla Lounge is a new church plant with an out-of-the-box approach. My target is for those who may not feel comfortable with church, or are looking for something different. My specific concern is for people who don’t feel good enough. Blue Gorilla Lounge is looking to produce a casual environment while delivering an impactful message of hope.
In the scriptures there’s a story of a woman going to a well to fetch fresh water. She went at mid-day to avoid others. She was ashamed of herself. Jesus sitting at the well asked her for water. This first was unusual because Jews and Samaritans didn’t get along. She even brought this up. Jesus also knew she was married 5 times and is with a new man that she wasn’t married to. This was why she didn’t come to the well with the rest of the women. She had shame. Jesus revealed he was the Messiah to her, a fact that he hasn’t revealed to anyone thus far, and she ended up bringing the whole town out to him.
Some people have comparable stories, and with just a new hope from God can have their whole world changed. In the scripture above, she went from shame to fame, and I believe there’s others out there stuck in shame that God wants to raise up. God’s not done with you yet!

The Bulldogs of Character program at the School District of New London was originally introduced as part of an initiative for adults in the school and community to take on a different mode of thinking regarding coaching and the language / thinking that we utilize when interacting with students in school and the community. Currently, the Bulldogs of Character program is infused throughout all levels in the district, and our goal has been and continues to be to expand these efforts into the community. A Bulldogs of Character in the Community Committee was formed in 2012, and our committee works to collaboratively create action plans to move our program forward in the community. One of our biggest missions thus far has been to spread the word about what it means to be a Bulldog of Character. We are very interested in getting businesses involved in our efforts to make Bulldogs of Character in the Community a familiar culture in New London and all of the surrounding communities. We want positive character to be a way of life for every person. Character is contagious…is YOURS worth catching?
What exactly is a Bulldog of Character?
It is a way of living dedicated to making positive character choices at home, school, workplace and within the community. The mission of our committee is to promote core values through recognizing Bulldogs of Character at school, home, in the community, and workplace and our vision is to provide character education for all students and adults wherein everyone has the opportunity to learn and practice skills at home, at school, in the workplace, and in the community in an effort to further individual growth and understanding of what it means to be a respectful, responsible, and contributing citizen within our society.
Are you interested in being a part of the Bulldogs of Character in the Community Committee? Our committee consists of business owners, community members, school board members, administrators, students, parents, and staff. We are always looking for more opportunities to grow our committee and expand the program into the community. We typically meet four times per school year and meetings last approximately one hour. We urge you to get involved so that your voice and ideas are heard. If you would like to find out more about this exciting program or if you would like to be a part of the committee, please contact Bill Storck, School Counselor at wstorck@newlondon.k12.wi.us.

In 2013, Katie Thurk was on vacation in Texas and was introduced to electronic cigarettes. Katie had been a smoker of traditional cigarettes for years. Since trying the electronic cigarette, she has not had a regular cigarette.
Her fascination with them started immediately. Here was a product that functioned just like a cigarette, only without any of the smoke, tar, ash and odor. Powered by batteries, e-cigarettes produce a vapor that looks like real smoke and simulates the hand-to-mouth motions of cigarettes. When trying to quit smoking, what to do with ones hands is one of the hardest things for ex-smokers to deal with.
Not only was Katie turned on to electronic cigarettes because of the benefits she is seeing in her health, but the cost of them is much more inexpensive as well. A weeks’ supply for an electronic cigarette can run you as little as $6.00 per week – well under one tenth the cost of a carton of regular cigarettes.
Katie knew immediately there were many others in her home town of New London that could benefit from the cost savings of switching to electronic cigarettes. Therefore she has started her own business, Change Up Vape, where she is selling electronic cigarette starter kits and all the components to go with them.
NEW – now carrying CBD products: tinctures, lotions, bath bombs, edibles, flowers, and dog treats.

Hello! My name is Alaena Wolf, and I am a junior in New London High School. I am the owner of Cozy n’ Sweet, and I am so excited to be opening a local business for everyone to enjoy. My mission with this candy shop is to create a friendly space for families and friends to enjoy life, because “it’s delicious!” I value community, kindness, and safety. My vision is to have New London be economically successful and benefit from my business, with the community being happy and together. I started my business with the vision of the happiness I felt from other candy stores I have visited, and I wanted to create that for my community. I also love school and all of my extracurriculars and I wanted to be able to tie my school in with the store. So… I will be offering student discounts and advertising my DECA chapter. I have learned so much from DECA, and all my other school commitments. I would like to thank all my teachers, friends, family, and community members for their support.
I could not have done any of this without the help of my amazing dad, who has been helping me become a successful young adult since day one. He is selfless, strong, talented, and one of the most inspiring people in my life. I have had many friends sacrifice their time and effort to help me put this shop together (whose names are colorfully displayed on my wall). Thank you to everyone for supporting, helping, shopping, and cheering me on. This is one of the most amazing adventures and challenges I have ever pursued.
I look forward to serving the community in a positive light and bring everyone together. I hope to be an inspiration to the younger members of the community, and let them know that they can achieve their goals as well. I want my presence to be a positive light that creates a sense togetherness and bring a focus to the colorful downtown community.

Nikki Poppe was introduced to doTERRA essential oils in March of 2012 when searching for an alternative relief to a headache, as ibuprofen has always been hard on her stomach. While she was not new to using essential oils as she was familiar with the aromatic benefits, she was amazed with how quick and effective that particular blend of essential oils were against her headache, and decided to research more on the science and efficacy of using essential oils as an alternative to pharmaceutical medications. Within a month, essential oils replaced all of the over-the counter medications in her home, and as her knowledge expanded, cleaning products and skin/hair care products were replaced too with essential oils or products made with essential oils. Nikki has a 7-year-old son named Austin who also benefits from using essential oils, which have been quite effective against his hyperactivity and emotional behavior disorder.
doTERRA (Latin, meaning “Gift from the Earth”) essential oils are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG), meaning they are 100% pure and completely safe to use on any person no matter what size or age and even pets. These oils not only can be used aromatically, but topically and even taken internally to receive their benefits. Although doTERRA is primarily an essential oil company, they also provide skin and hair care products along with nutritional supplements that contain essential oils with their all-natural ingredients. Everyone is looking for a safer, more natural method to improve not only themselves, but their family’s health, and doTERRA essential oils have been proven to be effective to providing that relief that people need.
Nikki holds classes weekly educating individuals on the benefits of using essential oils. Classes vary on different topics from mood management to using essential oils with children. All classes touch base on the science behind the oils, while demonstrating different uses for a variety of common ailments people have. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample different oils topically, internally, and aromatically. For those who cannot make it to scheduled classes, Nikki also does one-on-one visits to educate individuals on the uses of essential oils.
If you are interested in learning more about essential oils and their uses, please contact Nikki today at (715) 851-6316.

Hatten Stadium, built in the early 1940’s, has been a historic cornerstone of the New London community for thousands of youth and adults who over the past 60 years have played baseball there. Visiting players and spectators marvel at the site of the mature pine and cedar trees surrounding the old stone masonry which encompasses the entire stadium. Unfortunately, this fantastic venue has been slowly dimming as time and mother nature has eaten away at its brilliance. However, because of this, the opportunity has presented itself to make this “diamond in the rough”, shine once again. A group of individuals have come forward with the vision and determination to make Hatten Stadium THE BEST venue for all who play there.

Even though the community was small, Don Herrling knew his friends and neighbors deserved top-notch legal services without having to go to the big city.
Though we offer big city service, Herrling Clark Law Firm, Ltd. is a hometown firm. Although my career has included nursing, education and work as a Mental Health therapist before being introduced to the Mary Kay opportunity in 1992, the core focus of my careers has been working with people. I am a people person and my Mary Kay career has allowed me to help women look and feel great, and also for them to feel empowered to build their own businesses. The “sisterhood” of Mary Kay is a great gift!
I joined Mary Kay in August of 1992, never realizing these 21 years later; I would continue to feel the excitement and passion that the woman herself envisioned for others. This year, 2013, marks the 50th anniversary of this International Company. The dream that Mary Kay Ash felt to start this company is the dream that continues alive in my heart to make differences in the lives of others.
The product line has expanded – the Skin Care line increased to include the Botanical line, the Anti-aging Repair line, the new Acne Treatment line and the Men’s skin care line. The Color Cosmetics are exquisite and trendy; the fragrances and Spa/Body Care line are nourishing for all occasions.
But most importantly, the heart of Mary Kay with the belief of God first, Family second and Career third is what attracts so many to be part of this company. The Mary Kay Foundation and the focus on Breast CA awareness and Domestic Violence prevention is what excites me to be affiliated with this opportunity.
I am excited to be part of the New London Chamber, spreading the word about the Mary Kay heart! I am excited to be involved and have our community support my business as we make this world a better place.
My Unit of consultants “Pat’s Positive Believers” has a mission statement, which reads: “Improve the spiritual, financial and physical health of ourselves and others! We are setting the example for others to follow!”
We can make a difference in the lives of others, one person at a time!

After reviewing the facility and the existing garage services it was decided that Mid-State Tire & Repair, LLC would be formed. Longtime New London Cooperative employee Brian Siewert stayed on as a full-time mechanic under the new ownership.
Brian is happy to be able to continue providing quality local service to existing and new customers.
The business is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. They offer the following services; oil changes, new and used tire sales, tire repair, batteries sales, brake work, hydraulic hose sale and repair and light maintenance work.

MK’s Custom Creations is a fun, loving business that is not afraid to step outside the box creating floral designs. I love bringing your individual vision to life for weddings, funerals, celebrations of any kind, school functions, home designs or any other custom orders. I also enjoy mixing a specific artificial brand with real making it difficult to notice the difference. Oftentimes, this will help create that one of a kind unique look that no one else will have. I have been a designer for over 12 years creating out of my Greenville home while I raised my 3 children. I am proud to say, I have never duplicated any designs in my journey unless by request. We also enjoy restoring unloved and broken furniture into eye catching pieces; just as God restores us from our brokenness.

Our Clubs purpose is to further their enjoyment of motorcycling by providing organized activities. Some of these activities are motorcycle-orientated fundraising projects for the benefit of charities.
Ant Hill Mob Chapter 1 was formed in 1985 also known as “Bear Creek WI “ Chapter, when one member from Manitowoc moved to the Bear Creek area and approximately4 members of the Ant Hill Mob Osman Motorcycle Club that lived in the Bear Creek area thought it was a better idea at the time to start Chapter 1 due to travel concerns. It was brought up to the “Mother Club” at the time and was allowed to be established. It was decided to go on our own and have changed the name of our club to The Mob Bear Creek.
We currently do a Charity Ride the second Saturday of August, have Mobfest the first Saturday of June and have a charity 9 pin bowling tournament the week before the parade. We have also been adopting a needy family for Christmas and we donated 1200 pounds of dog food to the Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary, a no kill shelter near Marion. We also attend various other motorcycle events throughout the year for support and to make donations.
