The Christian Food Pantry, sponsored by St. John’s Episcopal Church and St. John’s Thrift Store, opened its’ doors at 209 S. Pearl St. in New London in the fall of 2003. The Pantry serves about 65 families per week. It is managed by a team of faithful people from St. John’s Church and community volunteers. Their efforts demonstrate not only a care for people in need of food but also portray the spiritual nourishment that flows from a relationship with God.
St. John’s Community Thrift Store maintains rent and utilities for the Food Pantry as well as providing all the funds needed to purchase food. Various agencies and businesses have also offered generous donations of money and food to continue the work of the Pantry
