Located outside of New London, Wisconsin, Rawhide, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charity, founded in 1965, by John and Jan Gillespie and Hall of Fame Quarterback Bart Starr and his wife Cherry. Rawhide has redirected the lives of thousands of youth that have either lived on our residential campus or received services through our numerous counseling clinics.
At Rawhide, emphasis has been on a faith-based residential environment as an alternative to juvenile corrections for court-referred and at-risk young men. Today, Rawhide offers a full continuum of services that provide prevention based programs for at-risk youth (both boys and girls), families, and a variety of residential programs for at-risk young men. Rawhide provides services to youth and their families through community-based programs, such as outpatient counseling, Adventure Camp, and Intensive Family Weekends. Families interested in scheduling an appointment for outpatient counseling services should visit www.rawhide.org/strongfamily or call toll free 1-877-300-9101. Most major health insurance plans are accepted and a sliding fee is also available.
Rawhide is largely supported by donations of vehicles, boats, and financial gifts. Donated items are processed on grounds and provide meaningful, job training skills to youth at Rawhide. Learn more about Rawhide by calling (920) 982-6100 or visiting the website at www.rawhide.org. Tours of the ranch are available Monday-Saturday 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Finally, for a fun way to experience Rawhide, Friday night Fish Fries are offered on the third Friday of each month, May through October from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Students assist in serving traditional lake perch, haddock, shrimp, and broasted chicken.
