B.A.B.E.S. of New London

BABES of New London is  a Child Abuse Prevention program that offers respite care to families for the last 22 years.  BABES  is now in  the position of considering selling our building and closing.  We are in desperate need of operating funds as we have enough funds to get us through the beginning of May.  If BABES is to continue in operation we need on going community support not only financial but others that want to help and be ambassadors for the cause.  We would look for others to help write grants, do fundraisers and join our board of directors.  BABES is located at 102 Northridge Drive New London, WI 54961.  If you’d like to donate please drop off or mail to our address.   BABES can also be reached at 920-982-9995 or Kari Bunting 920-427-2684 Call or text.

Backing Small Businesses Grant Program

In partnership with American Express, the Backing Small Businesses grant program supports economically vulnerable and under-resourced small businesses with community reach. This year, eligible small business owners can apply for $10,000 grants for projects that grow or improve their businesses by building community, supporting their economic viability, or bolstering meaningful change.
Applications will be accepted from 9:00 am CT on March 14, 2024, through 11:59 pm CT on April 7, 2024. The application period will end once 5,000 applications have been submitted, even if that occurs before the deadline.

City of New London

The City of New London participated in our first Pre-Construction meeting with the DOT and the Contractor for the 2024 Downtown Street Reconstruction project. The City was informed that, due to favorable weather conditions and a low water table, the contractor wants to take advantage of the situation and get a jump start on this year's construction schedule by starting construction on April 8th. Signage will be placed near the construction zone in the near future. This year's project is planned to be split into 3 phases.
The first phase will include the reconstruction of the intersection of Shawano Street and North Water Street. The intersection will be closed on April 8th, and traffic will be detoured to Waupaca Street then to Pearl Street. The intersection will reopen once reconstruction is completed. Phase 2 will include reconstruction from the Shawano Street Intersection to the new parking lot near Lincoln Court. Phase 3 will then proceed with the reconstruction of North Water Street from the parking lot to Pearl Street and from the Pearl Street Bridge to Waupaca Street. More details on detour routes and timelines will be provided as we receive them.
The Contractor and DOT are also planning an informational meeting for all business and property owners in the construction zone for Thursday, April 4th, at 4 pm in the Senior Center at the Washington Center. The contactor will be sending letters notifying businesses and property owners of the meeting. At that time, questions can be asked to the contractor regarding the project.
During the project, the contractor will strive to keep sidewalks and pedestrian access available as much as possible. Remember, during construction the DOWNTOWN IS STILL OPEN so please continue to support our businesses during the project.

Mosquito Hill Nature Center

Interested in working at Mosquito Hill Nature Center this summer? We are looking for a trail technician to care for the beautiful 441-acre nature center along with a paid summer intern to help with the Summer Ecology Day Camp, summer field trips, and other nature center responsibilities.

Most Precious Blood Parish

We are joyfully hosting a middle school mission trip here in New London for many middle school aged children.  We have about 80 Students and Chaperones staying with us the week of July 8-11th at Most Precious Blood.  The students will be going out over a series of 2 days during their saty to help our local community by doing "small things with great love" according to St. Theresa of Calcutta.
The goal of the mission trip is to first serve people in the community first with tasks around the yard and home (like window washing, weeding, painting, organizing... garages, sheds etc).  We are hoping to collect more than 60 "work sites" in need of some extra hands this summer.  Each team of students will have a chaperone to help lead them in their daily assignments.  Good candidates are families or elderly community members who are looking for a little extra help this summer.  
Second tier of helping then goes to local non profits if we don't meet our goal of 60 people who need help.

Summer is almost here, and so are our driving classes! Whether you're a new learner or looking to polish your skills, our driving school is here to help you navigate the road with confidence.
Students can be 14 to enroll into a drivers ed course and then get their temps when they turn 15.
June 10th - June 28th, 1:00 to 3:00 PM Monday - Friday
July 8th - July 26th, 1:00 to 3:00 PM Monday - Friday
August 5th - August 23rd, 1:00 to 3:00 PM Monday - Friday
All of these classes are held at 775 Industrial Loop Rd, New London (Ort Trucking Building)
There are also online courses available. The education is the same, the only difference is in-person is you will be taking the class with an instructor teaching and there is a driving simulator. Space is limited.

We'd like to introduce one of the newest members of the WFVH family. She's been with us just over two weeks so you may have already had the chance to meet her, but in case you didn't......
Dr. Ann Wenzel graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. She started her career as large animal veterinarian, but a few years ago her career interests changed, and
she began pursuing small animal medicine. She has interests in small animal soft tissue surgery and dentistry.
Dr. Ann Wenzel has wanted to be a veterinarian her entire life, and has always been the one responsible for the care of the family pets. She strives to provide the best medicine and surgery she can for your furry family members, and treat them as if they were her own.
In her free time she enjoys the outdoors. Dr. Wenzel spends a lot of time walking outside, and when the opportunity presents hiking in the woods. During the nice time of year she spends most of her free time bicycling, and has bicycle camped with the family.
We currently reside in the Appleton area with the two furry friends Zadie and The Chunk, who sometimes like to be called by their wild cat alter egos…Weird Rib and Notch Ear.
