Join Naturalist Mike Hibbard April 27th at 1p.m. to build a bug box with to temporarily hold butterflies and other insects for study. The box measures 5 ½” wide x 7” high x 8” long. All instructions and materials are provided. Some basic hand tools will be needed, but extras will be provided if you don’t have them. A tool list will be provided upon registration. After the boxes are completed, participants will have a chance to try them out as we go on a “catch and release” bug safari to see which insects are out and about. The workshop is recommended for children ages 10+. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Holy Humor Sunday on April 28
This year, First Congregational United Church of Christ will be celebrating Holy Humor Sunday on April 28th, at their 9:00 a.m. service. This is a joyous service, celebrating the Good News of the Resurrection with worship, music, and laughter. This year we will be welcoming Karma’s Mailbox, a folk/bluegrass band from the UCC in Appleton, to share in our worship. Then join us for fellowship following the service at 10:00 a.m. First Congregational is located at 110 E. Hancock Street in New London. Hope to see you there!

Treat your mom or grandmother to a morning of fresh air and beautiful wildflowers. Join Naturalist Mike Hibbard on a hike of the nature center property in search of spring ephemerals. These early spring wildflowers are an important part of the ecosystem, providing early nourishment for emerging pollinators. On this hike, participants will learn some plant identification skills and the stories behind early blooming plants. Moms and grandmothers are free.
Cost: $8/person, $6/ student/senior/FOMH.
