Fox Cities Composite Squadron
Description
Contact: Lisa Bastian
Civil Air Patrol is a Congressionally chartered, non-profit that serves as the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Nationally we have 52 Wings (including Washington DC & Puerto Rico), with each state having multiple squadron locations. Fox Cities Composite Squadron (FCCS) – Civil Air Patrol is an active squadron located on the south-side of the Appleton International Airport.
FCCS was chartered in 1947 and has continued to be an active, growing squadron in the Fox Cities area. Our squadron has approximately 80 active members, Cadets and adult members. We focus on the three Civil Air Patrol missions; Cadet Programs, Aerospace Education, and Emergency Services.
Our Cadet Program looks to engage youth between the ages of 12-21, and gives them a real-world, hands-on look at leadership development, community involvement, and self-discipline. Our program is focused on creating dynamic STEM-minded leaders through training classes offered locally as well as through-out the United States (visit: National Cadet Special Activities for more info).
The Aerospace Education program is both internal for our Cadets (flight training, STEM Kits, advanced AE classes) as well as external, focusing on helping our community grow within the STEM areas. Our squadron offers the ability to partner with area school groups, Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts, or other youth groups to focus on aerospace topics, including STEM kits.
Our commitment to community involvement includes our Emergency Services training. This training allows all of our members (adult and youth) to participate in disaster relief missions, search and rescue missions (as coordinated through the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center), and state emergencies (coordinated through Wisconsin Emergency Management).
Fox Cities Composite Squadron holds meetings each Tuesday meeting from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. If you are interested in learning more about our program, we encourage you to contact us via email or visit our website.
