CAP Services Tax Assistance Program Announces Staff Retirement
Connie Henn, Lead Tax Assistance Coordinator for Waushara County has retired, following seven years of helping low- to moderate-income tax filers process their taxes at no cost.
In Connie’s first year with CAP’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, she was responsible for a 5% increase in federal returns, a 100% increase in state returns and a 23% increase in households served. Throughout her time years with CAP Services, she redesigned the process for the VITA sites in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency, swiftly shifting from in-person to virtual services, established training procedures for volunteers across CAP’s Portage, Waupaca and Waushara VITA locations, and worked directly with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue to produce an evergreen state income tax training program for VITA Sites across the state.
Connie’s impact on the VITA Program will last long beyond her employment with CAP Services. Though she is retiring, she plans to return to the program as a volunteer to continue helping clients receive all tax refunds they are due.
“Working with CAP’s VITA program has been the highlight of my career, I only wish I had found it sooner!” Henn remarked. “I wasn’t ready to stop working after I retired from full-time work in Price County, and this was the perfect opportunity to make a difference while also having a more flexible schedule. I’m so grateful for the relationships I’ve built with clients and volunteers over the last seven years.”
CAP extends best wishes to Connie in her retirement and deep gratitude for her impact on the community!

Pro: We are in November with temps still reaching the high 60s. Con: With that said, it is Wisconsin and the weather can flip at any time. Here is the annual reminder per ordinance 7.07(3) - no parking on City streets overnight. Thank you!
